Well, my last month of freedom was wonderful! Going back to work was difficult, but I absolutely love the people I work with, so it made it so much better! My administration loves to be hypocritical, so this year they took our team and split us all up. We worked well together, all got along and were a productive group... but apparently we were "too close", whatever the heck that's supposed to mean.
The portable situation is interesting to say the least. They weren't hooked up to ANYTHING (A/C, general electricity, internet, etc) until the Monday before school started. Then my A/C broke that Friday, the day that I had almost an entire workday in my room to get stuff done. So it was literally about 120 degrees in there and I had to stay in there to get stuff done! I think I lost 5 lbs just from sweating!
School started on the 27th. My classes aren't too bad in size... they are capped at 25, and I have 2 classes there, the rest average 21-22 students. The great thing about all of this? Out of 135 total students, 114 are girls. See previous gender post as to why I am excited about this :)
So far this year: I've been kicked out to a portable, the A/C has broken, the phones and intercom system have stopped working, the stomach flu has taken out the 6th graders, I had a parent yell at me and demand I let her child go to the restroom whenever she wants regardless of my rules, and the school caught on fire (seriously, but did the alarms go off in the portables? Course not).
Who thinks I should go running for the hills? Thinking about it.. ;)
